This is a general Ubuntu 6.10 How-To, which helped me get this game working (will also help with various other software). Now I am fixing it by using an external optical drive. I was the same guy that gave the game a garbage rating. One can play the game with a platinum rating if one does not patch it. I did quick battles to see if it would run and I started the campaign to see if units would move. NET 4.6.2, dotnet462 and both also worked with the 1.2 patch
I also installed vcrun2012 from winetricks and I installed. NET via winetricks dotnet35 and dotnet462.
NET installed but I think that was a problem in windows as well. The launcher that was added in 1.2 patch needs. NET to get the launcher to start that was added with the 1.2 patch. I was able to run wine to install the game from the DVDs.
